Public Entry Restricted At Vulnerable Sindura Tourist Spots After Major Mishap
In a bid to avert potential mishaps, the Cachar District Administration has imposed restrictions on public access to certain tourist spots in the Sindura area under Katigorah Revenue Circle. The move follows an official assessment which found the sites lacking in basic infrastructure, safety measures, and disaster preparedness.
Acting under Section 34 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, District Commissioner Mridul Yadav issued an order on Wednesday, enforcing the ban with immediate effect. The order will remain in force until further notice.
The administration has directed the Circle Officer of Katigorah, Block Development Officers of Kalain and Katigorah, and officials from the respective police stations, outposts, and Village Defence Parties to ensure strict implementation of the directive. Regular monitoring will be undertaken by Kalain Outpost and Katigorah Police Station, and violations will attract strict legal action under the Disaster Management Act and other applicable laws.
The administration assured that entry to the affected sites will resume only after proper safety infrastructure and disaster management protocols are put in place. “Public safety is our top priority. We urge citizens to cooperate and avoid visiting the restricted areas during this time,” the statement added.
The directive, issued via a press release from the Regional Office of Information & Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, highlights the district authority’s proactive stance on disaster risk mitigation and public welfare.
All departments involved have been instructed to submit regular compliance reports to the Deputy Commissioner for coordinated enforcement.
