Silchar Naked Assault Video: Youth Files FIR Alleging Extortion

A suspected case of moral policing has come to light in Silchar after a viral video showed a youth from the Madhurbond area being stripped naked, assaulted and forced to apologise publicly by a group of men. The incident took a different turn after the victim later filed an FIR at Silchar Sadar Police Station alleging that the assault and humiliation were carried out to extort money from him. The youth also alleged that videos of the incident were recorded as a leverage to keep him quiet but were later circulated online.

According to the FIR filed on 11 May, the victim, identified as Hibul Hossain, alleged that the incident took place on 13 April 2026 near Hasikhusi Bibaha Bhaban in Silchar. He claimed that Sakran Laskar and Tanbir Mazumdar called him and took him to a field behind the wedding hall at around 4:30 pm, where six to seven persons allegedly assaulted him.

Hossain alleged in the complaint that the group demanded Rs. 20,000 from him. Out of fear, he claimed he transferred Rs. 4,000 through UPI at the spot. He further alleged that despite informing them he did not have more money, the assault continued and further demands were made.

The complainant also alleged that his clothes were torn and that he was forced to remain naked while videos were recorded on mobile phones. He claimed he was made to perform repeated ear squats, locally known as “uth bos”, while being humiliated in front of others. According to him, the accused threatened to make the videos public if he informed anyone about the incident.

Speaking to the media after filing the FIR, Hossain claimed that the accused suspected that he had some objectionable video stored on his phone, although he maintained that no such video existed. He alleged that the group searched for the suspected video on his phone but could not find anything. However, he did not specify what type of video the group was allegedly searching for.

Hossain further claimed that he remained silent earlier because the accused allegedly threatened to circulate his nude videos online. “They told me they would make my videos viral, so I stayed quiet. But now they have already shared the video online, so I had no other choice except reporting the matter,” he told reporters.

He also alleged that the accused threatened to forcibly send him to an addiction rehabilitation centre allegedly run by Kamrul Laskar, the father of Sarfaraz Laskar and Sakran Laskar, if he failed to pay them money. Apart from the names mentioned in the FIR, Hossain also named another individual identified as Virat during his interaction with the media. He claimed that the identities of some of the other persons involved remain unknown to him.

Meanwhile, the viral video of the incident appears to suggest that there may be more to the matter than what has been stated in the FIR. In the footage, the men assaulting the youth are allegedly heard accusing him of committing a wrongdoing and repeatedly asking him to apologise. At several points, they question whether he has “mothers and sisters” of his own, indirectly hinting at an alleged act involving a woman.

The video also allegedly shows the youth being kicked, forced to touch someone’s feet and made to apologise while performing ear squats. He can also be seen being pressured into admitting a mistake and taking responsibility for his actions, while another person allegedly refuses to forgive him despite repeated apologies.

The victim’s mother, while speaking to the media, also alleged that the accused had threatened to kidnap her husband. She further claimed that Sakran Laskar, threatened to kill the family.

What exactly led to the incident remains unclear and has not been independently verified. While the viral footage strongly points towards elements of moral policing, the FIR filed by the victim describes the incident as one involving assault, criminal intimidation, humiliation and extortion. At the same time, no direct demand for money can be clearly heard in the viral video, where the focus instead appears to be on forcing an apology.
