Silchar To Get Live FIFA World Cup Screening At DSA Stadium From July 9

Football fans across the Barak Valley will be able to watch FIFA World Cup matches live on a giant LED screen at DSA Stadium in Silchar, with the Chief Minister’s FIFA Fan Park set to open on July 9. The initiative, launched under the direction of Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, will run until the tournament final on July 20.

District Commissioner Rahul Kumar Gupta addressed a press conference at the Old Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday to brief the media on the arrangements. He was accompanied by Additional District Commissioners Devid Kumar Borah and Jagriti Kalwar.

Speaking at the press conference, the District Commissioner said the Fan Park aims to provide football lovers across the Barak Valley with a safe, vibrant and community-oriented venue where they can experience the excitement of the FIFA World Cup together. He said all matches from July 9 until the final will be streamed live on the giant LED screen. Families, young people and sports lovers are all welcome, and he appealed to citizens to maintain discipline and cooperate with the administration throughout the event.

The venue has been equipped with proper lighting, sound systems, security deployment and other essential public amenities. Coordination between the district administration, police and all concerned departments has been completed to ensure smooth management of the screenings.

The Silchar Fan Park is part of a wider expansion of the initiative, which was first launched in Guwahati and Dibrugarh. Following the overwhelming public response at those venues, the Government of Assam extended it to Silchar and Jorhat, giving football fans across different parts of the state the opportunity to enjoy the closing stages of the tournament together in a vibrant public viewing experience.
