Silchar’s Eid-e-Milad Julus Draws 10,000+, Say Organisers

Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), was observed with religious fervour in Silchar on Wednesday, with thousands of people taking part in a large procession organised by the Cachar District Central Julus-e-Mohammadi Committee.

The procession, which began from the Silchar-Kanakpur Eidgah premises, passed through Sonai Road and is scheduled to conclude at Sonai. More than 10,000 people from different parts of Cachar district participated in the religious procession, according to the organisers.

The procession saw the participation of hundreds of vehicles and people of different age groups. Men, women and children wearing traditional religious attire joined the event, while Islamic naats and ghazals were played along the route.

Speaking to the media, organisers said that the procession was being held every year on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi as a peace rally. They said that more than 10,000 people had joined this year’s procession and that people from across Cachar had participated.

The organisers also expressed hope that the event would convey a message of peace, brotherhood and communal harmony. They appealed for the continuation of peace and harmony in Barak Valley and across Assam.

The procession created a festive atmosphere in Silchar, while the organisers emphasised that the occasion was intended to promote peace, unity and communal harmony.
