Sivasagar-to-Cachar Twist: Scorpio Driver Arrested in Lailapur Over Shocking Dimow Incident

A Scorpio driver accused of allegedly pushing a young man out of a moving vehicle in Assam’s Sivasagar district has been arrested from Lailapur in Cachar district, police said.

The accused, identified as Shafikur Rahman, a resident of Jorhat, was arrested by Sivasagar Police from Dimow Police Station with the assistance of Lailapur Police Outpost. Police also recovered the Scorpio bearing registration number AS-03-AN-8330.

According to information available so far, the incident took place on 10 August in Dimow. Two youths were reportedly returning home after providing flood relief when their vehicle was hit by the Scorpio on the road.

Following the collision, the Scorpio driver allegedly told the youths that they should go to the police station and took one of them into his vehicle.

Police allege that after travelling some distance, the driver accelerated the vehicle and allegedly pushed the youth out while the Scorpio was still moving before fleeing the area.

The youth sustained serious injuries in the incident and is reportedly undergoing treatment in the ICU.

After the incident, Rahman allegedly travelled to Lailapur in Cachar and went into hiding. Acting on information, Police from Dimow, with the assistance of Lailapur Police Outpost, conducted an operation and arrested him from the area along with the Scorpio.

The accused was subsequently taken to Dimow for further investigation. Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the allegations against the accused.
