Theft of Rs. 10,000 Reported in SMCH X-Ray Room; Woman Files FIR Against Technicians
A shocking theft allegation has surfaced at Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Monday (August 11), where a woman has filed a police complaint accusing two X-ray department employees of stealing Rs. 10,000. This comes just after the entire dialysis wing of SMCH was vandalised in a non-related incident, the previous night.
Fulnehar Begum Barbhuiya of Ramnagar, Silchar, lodged the FIR at Ghungoor Police Outpost after she claimed her money went missing during an X-ray procedure on Monday afternoon. Around 1 PM, she had brought her 14-year-old nephew, Azmir, to the hospital for an X-ray of his broken hand.
According to Fulnehar Begum, while she was in the X-ray room, she kept a small red bag containing Rs. 10,000 on the table beside her. Nirmal, a male staff member, asked her to hold the patient’s hand for the X-ray. After the procedure, when Nirmal returned to collect the X-ray plate, she noticed the bag had disappeared. Only Nirmal and a female employee were present in the room at the time.
Fulnehar Begum said, “I want my bag back. It was a small red bag containing Rs. 10,000. We have filed an FIR at the Ghungoor Outpost.”
She has appealed to the hospital administration and authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, recover the stolen money, and ensure strict action against the accused employees.
