Tragic: Lakhipur Accident Claims Life of Young Woman from Sairon Punji

A tragic road accident claimed the life of a young woman at Lakhipur in Cachar district on Sunday afternoon (October 26). The incident took place around 12 pm on the national highway near Jujang hills under Lakhipur Police Station. This horrific accident marks yet another fatal mishap on the roads of the valley making road safety awareness the utmost need of the hour.

The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Rosaline Hmar, a resident of Sairon Punji under Jirighat Police Station in Cachar. According to reports, she was travelling as a pillion rider on a scooter driven by one of her close relatives. The two were reportedly heading towards a destination when the tragic incident occurred.

On their way, the scooter is said to have collided with another two-wheeler. The sudden impact caused Rosaline to lose her balance and fall from the moving vehicle onto the road. The situation turned fatal within seconds when another truck, coming from behind, ran over her.

The accident reportedly caused severe injuries, and Rosaline died on the spot before any help could reach. Her relative who was riding the scooter escaped with minor injuries, as per initial information. The sight at the location was distressing, drawing the attention of bystanders and local residents.

Soon after the incident, Rosaline’s family members rushed to the spot upon hearing the news. They were seen devastated and inconsolable, struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss. Some locals and passers-by tried to comfort them as they broke down in grief.
