Cancellation Saga Continues: More Trains Cancelled, Timings Changed Again

The disruption of train services in Assam’s hill section is set to continue, with Northeast Frontier Railway announcing another round of cancellations, rescheduling and regulation of trains due to the ongoing track settlement issue near New Harangajao station.

According to a press release issued by Northeast Frontier Railway on Tuesday, railway operations over the Lumding to Badarpur Hill Section remain affected after Line 1 and Line 2 near New Harangajao station became unsafe due to track settlement. At present, all train movements are being operated through Line 3 under strict monitoring and enhanced safety measures. Passenger carrying trains are not being allowed to pass through the affected section between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am in the interest of passenger safety.

The railway said engineering teams, officials and heavy machinery have been deployed on a war footing to restore the damaged track, and normal train operations are expected to resume once the work is completed safely. However, the saga of train cancellations and rescheduling continues as restoration work is still underway.

As per the latest update issued on 28 July, the following trains have been cancelled:

Train No. 15617 Guwahati to Dullabcherra Express commencing journey on 29 July.

Train No. 15618 Dullabcherra to Guwahati Express commencing journey on 30 July.

Train No. 15615 Guwahati to Silchar Express commencing journey on 29 July.

Train No. 15616 Silchar to Guwahati Express commencing journey on 29 and 30 July.

Several trains have also been rescheduled:

Train No. 15650 Narangi to Agartala Express on 29 July will depart at 10:30 pm.

Train No. 15649 Agartala to Narangi Express on 29 July will depart at 11:30 pm.

Train No. 15609 Guwahati to Sairang Express on 29 July will depart at 11:30 pm.

Train No. 15610 Sairang to Guwahati Express on 29 July will depart at 9:30 pm.

Train No. 15611 Rangiya to Silchar Express on 29 July will depart at 11:30 pm.

Train No. 15612 Silchar to Rangiya Express commencing journey on 28 and 29 July will depart at 5:00 am on 29 and 30 July respectively.

Train No. 15646 Silchar to Charlapalli Express commencing journey on 29 July will depart at 4:10 am on 30 July.

Apart from these, the railway’s operational bulletin states that several other long distance trains continue to be regulated en route or rescheduled because of the restrictions in the hill section. These include trains such as the SMVB to Agartala Express, Agartala to RKMP Special, Agartala to SMVB Express, Silchar to Coimbatore Express and other services operating through the Lumding Division.

Passengers have been advised to check the latest train status before starting their journey, as further operational changes may be made depending on the progress of restoration work at New Harangajao.
