From Wedding Joy to Shock: Groom Dies by Suicide on His Marriage Day in Borkhola

A groom died by suicide on his wedding day in Chandpur’s Belakona village under Borkhola police station in Cachar district on Sunday (September 27), leaving his family and the local community in shock.

The deceased was identified as Ruhul Alam Choudhury, a resident of Chandpur Third Part, Belakona. According to local residents, the wedding preparations had been progressing normally, with the groom’s mehendi ceremony held at his residence a day earlier.

On Sunday, the groom’s family went to the bride’s residence, where the marriage rituals were completed. After returning home, Ruhul reportedly went into his room and closed the door. When family members found the door locked and became concerned, they entered the room and found him unresponsive. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police from Bhangarpar reached the hospital after receiving information about the incident. The body was recovered and sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident reportedly came as a shock to members of the bride’s family, who had arrived for the nikah proceedings and were confronted with the tragic development.

The circumstances surrounding Ruhul’s death remain unclear. Local residents said that he had appeared normal and cheerful shortly before the incident, including during the mehendi ceremony the previous day.

Police have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances leading to the death. Further details are awaited.
