3-month-old baby among 23 new COVID-19 cases in Hailakandi; district’s toll rises to 201

After a 5-month-old tested nCOV positive yesterday in Silchar today a 3-month-old diagnosed to be infected by the Coronavirus in Hailakandi. 23 more fresh COVID-19 novel coronavirus cases have been detected in Hailakandi on Sunday, taking the total tally to 201.

Health authorities in Hailakandi disclosed that Biswajit Das (35), Nipa Das (32), Miss Baby (name kept confidential) Das (3 months), Master Baby (name kept confidential) Das (2), Saidul Islam Barbhuiya (23), Ruhul Hussain Barbhuiya (20), Anamul Hoque Barbhuiya (26), Zakir Hussain Mazumder (24), Rizma Begum Barbhuiya (22), Mastak Ahmad Barbhuiya (21), Jabed Ahmad Barbhuiya (22), Akmal Hussain Laskar (23), Rahimuddin Laskar (26), Saidul Hussain Choudhury (21), Majibuddin Mazumder (25), Abul Hussain Mazumder (21), Saharul Islam Laskar (25), Jiabuddin (32), Noor Ahmad Khan (23), Alamin Bhar Barbhuiya (19), Jiabur Rahman Laskar (21), Wahiduzzaman Choudhury (22) and Anowar Hussain (29), have all tested positive.

Of the 23 infected persons, seven were under quarantine centre at Joymangal High School, nine at B.Ed College quarantine centre, one at Nahaz Hotel quarantine centre and six persons under home quarantine at Monacherra Bosti, Dinanathpur II and Samarikona Lalpool.

Among the infected were four members of a family, including a three-month infant and a two-year-old minor boy, who were under home quarantine. They have been shifted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The rest of the infected persons have been admitted at isolation wards of SK Roy designated COVID-19 hospital and Mahatma Gandhi Model hospital in the district.

Two COVID-19 positive patients – Mangoli Rani Das, 53, and Foijul Haque Barbhuiya, 65, breathed their last at SMC&H.

86 patients have been discharged from Civil Hospital in Hailakandi, SMC&H, Silchar and Guwahati Medical College and Hospital. There are currently 115 active cases.
