Cachar Administration beefs up security; gears up for the final draft publication tomorrow

The situation in Assam and especially Barak Valley is very tensed. Residents are spending anxious hours waiting for the publication of the final draft of National Registrar of Citizens (NRC). Who will make it to the draft, who will miss it and most importantly what will happen to the ones who miss it is what people are discussing all around.

Amidst all of that, the district administration is leaving no stones unturned to ensure that everything remains smooth and easy and most importantly the peace retains in the valley. One of the official spokespeople of the administration informed the media that security personnel has been deployed in each and every NRC Seva Kendra (NSK). He also informed that the administration has held several meetings with intellectuals to ensure peace is maintained.

Assam Police in its official note appealed to to the residents of Assam to not react to rumours. In its note it clarified that not having name in the final draft does not mean that he or she is a foreigner. The note read that Assam Government will provide legal aid to assist the poor at foreigners tribunal.
