Fake Alert: People running away from train video was shot at NJP and not Barak Valley
From yesterday evening, some Facebook posts are doing round claiming that inbound train passengers are pulling the emergency chain of trains and deboarding, before the scheduled station in order to escape from being quarantined.
Though posts did not mention the place where the incident has occurred, people are sharing it widely tagging the local administration to pay attention.
When contacted Badarpur Railway Area manager, S Umesh, he rubbished the claims and mentioned that no such incident has happened in the Badarpur Subdivision area.
“I came to know about it from news reports and video seems to be from NJP, but I am not sure when it was shot,” area manager said adding that railways take good care of passengers aboard- ensuring good run, food, water, and other needs.
Earlier on Sunday, S Umesh wrote to Karimganj Deputy Commissioner rubbishing another Facebook post which claimed many passengers deboarded the train at outer signal of Badarpur railway station and ran off to escape from screening procedures.
“It has come to my notice that certain social media posts are creating panic In Badarpur area by spreading misinformation that a big crowd of COVID positive passengers have gotten down at outer signal of Badarpur Railway station and avoided screening procedures. It Is pertinent to note that there were no passenger trains between 06:00 — 07:00 pm today at the station. The last train handled was at 5:13 pm, an outward train from Bishramganj, Tripura to Nawadah, Bihar, point to point service with no boarding or deboarding at Badarpur. I reconfirmed from inspector RPF that no deboarding has occurred on this train,” the letter mentioned.
The administration urged everyone not to pay heed in such claims made over social media and share them without verification, which can escalate further panic.
