July 20, COVID Update: “94 COVID positive patients in Cachar,” District Health Department

Media Expert, District Health Department Suman Choudhury informed that, so far, on July 20, 94 patients have tested positive for COVID19 and among them 37 happened to be from Assam Rifles.

It is worth mentioning here that yesterday, Assam Rifles Jawan S K Wagle had succumbed to COVID19 infection. A high number of cases among the Assam Rifles Jawan today is now worrying the administration.

Apart from the Assam Rifles Jawans, contact tracing in various areas of Cachar continued and several cases that surfaced are: Shibcolony’s Rahul Choudhury (27), Rathindra Choudhury (58), Syamananda Lane Number 2’s Nishikanta Roy (48), Ukilpatty’s Bimalendu Saha (69), Sandeep Saha (27), Tarapur’s Anil Chandra Nath (68), Siddheshwar Part II’s Arup Das (18), Sushmita Dey Laskar (29), Kanti Dey Laskar (29), Ratna Dey Laskar (53), Shyamali Dey Laskar (58), Sukra Ree (44), Assam Basti’s Roshan Singh (11), Ritu Singh (10), Tarapur’s Rinthu Paul (32).

Individuals who tested positive with a travel history are from MP, Marwacherra’s Vishnu Prasad Verma (23) from Guwahati, Harinagar’s Chaitali Deb (34).

Cachar administration continued testing in Cachar under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP) and  Sonai’s Sumit Roy (27), Abhranil Roy (32) were found carrying the virus.

The outbreak continued among Health Care workers. Ladies Hostel Uttar Krishnapur’s Rima Das (34), Silchar Medical College and Hospital’s nursing hostel’s Jeepshi Singha (32), Sikha Das (40), Jasmine Rahman (31), Dr. Nurul Alam (32) tested positive on Monday.

Meherpur’s Marina Gangme (40) and Lakkhishwar’s Nibash Roy (7) developed Influenza-Like Illness and their swab samples tested COVID positive.

Rapid Antigen Test was also conducted in Cachar and Premtala’s Ayan Adhikari (84), Nabanandra Kumar Adhikari (60), Manjuri Adhikari (50), Vivekananda Road’s Vivek Suklabadiya (16) tested COVID positive.
