Read to know the gender-based equation of votes in all 15 constituencies of Barak Valley
The upcoming Assam assembly elections are going to be conducted in three phases, on March 27, April 1 and April 6. The three districts of the Barak Valley go to poll in the second phase of polling. A total of 2,702,172 number of voters are expected to cast their votes through 3,852 number of polling stations situated across the LACs of these three districts. The Election Commission of India through a notification regarding the elections revealed this information.
Among the three districts, Cachar has 7 LACs, Karimganj has 5, and Hailakandi district has a total of 3 LACs. In the Karimganj district, there are 9,17,155 voters, of which 4,69,676 are males, 4,47,464 are females and 15 are transgender voters. The total number of polling stations assigned in this district is 1307. The five LACs under the Karimganj district are:
• LAC 1 Ratabari (SC) with 1,73,439 voters (89,487 male, 83,949 female, 3 transgender)
• LAC 2 Patharkandi with 1,90,434 voters (97,936 male, 92,492 female, 6 transgender)
• LAC 3 North Karimganj with 1,99,602 voters (1,01,137 male, 98,464 female, 1 transgender)
• LAC 4 South Karimganj with 1,91,239 voters (98,369 male, 92,867 female, 3 transgender)
• LAC 5 Badarpur with 1,62,441 voters (82,747 male, 79,692 female, 2 transgender)
Whereas in the district of Hailakandi, the total number of voters across its 3 constituencies is 5,06,136. Among them, 2,63,162 are males, 2,42,970 are females and 4 are transgender voters. They have 711 polling stations in their constituencies. The three LACs under the Hailakandi district are:
• LAC 6 Hailakandi with 1,62,986 voters (83,889 male, 79,097 female)
• LAC 7 Katlicherra with 1,80,101 voters (93,368 male, 86,733 female)
• LAC 8 Algapur with 1,63,049 voters (85,905 male, 77,140 female, 4 transgender)
Cachar has a total of 12,78,881 voters, of which 6,47,868 are males, 6,30,999 are females and 14 are transgender voters. To facilitate this, 1,834 polling stations will be installed across the district. The seven LACs under the Cachar district are:
• LAC 9 Silchar with 2,34,195 voters (1,15,105 male, 1,19,082 female, 8 transgender)
• LAC 10 Sonai with 1,83,580 voters (92,861 male, 90,714 female, 5 transgender)
• LAC 11 Dholai (SC) with 1,90,791 voters (98,313 male, 92,477 female, 1 transgender)
• LAC 12 Udharbond with 1,63,771 voters (82,627 male, 81,144 female)
• LAC 13 Lakhipur with 1,65,813 voters (84,978 male, 80,835 female)
• LAC 14 Barkhola with 1,52,054 voters (77,005 male, 75,049 female)
• LAC 15 Katigora with 1,88,677 voters (96,979 male, 91,698 female)
The district administrations of Barak valley are trying their utmost to raise awareness about the election by launching several initiatives to catch their attention. Through such initiatives, the administration is expecting decent participation of voters in the upcoming three phases of polling.
