63-year-old Music teacher molests minor student in Silchar; Police detains suspect

A nine-year-old girl is traumatised. She cries out loud while urinating. Her conditions start bothering the mother. The next day, when the mother asks her child to go to music class, as usual, the child breaks into tears again. “I don’t want to go to the music class, the music teacher is bad,” she screams.

Gradually, the minor girl opens up to her mother leaving her in shock and grief. According to the mother, the 63-year-old music teacher used to take the girl to a different room and molest her. She says, he did it for many days. The mother, in panic, calls other parents and according to her, they went to the teacher’s house and confronted him.

“He admitted that he used to molest my child. And then requested us against filing any case. He offered to pay us a good sum of money if we keep the matter away from Police and court,” writes the mother in her statement.

She goes ahead and files an FIR in Rongpur Police Patrol Post. In charge of the Police Patrol post, Barsha Borgohain said, “We have received an FIR and the suspect has been detained. We are interrogating him and investigating the matter.”

Police sources informed that one more student said she too suffered a similar experience during the music class. That student stopped attending the music class two months back after she was allegedly molested numerous times.

The parents informed that the teacher started taking classes at home after the schools got shut due to the Covid induced restrictions.
