Ayurveda Day 2021: AMO To Run Health and Awareness Camp on Nov 2

Ayurvedic Medical Orgnaisation (AMO) – Assam chapter will be observing 6th Ayurveda Day on November 2, on the birth occasion of Dhwantari- the mythical god of medicine in the Hindu Puranas. AMO will be organizing philanthropic health and awareness camp tomorrow, commemorating ‘Dhawantari Jayani’ at Bharat Sevashram Sangh, in Tarapur, Silchar.

In Cachar, Dr. Deepmala Dev, an organiser of the event said, this is a novel initiative taken by Aryuvedic Practitioners of the district with the collaboration of many Ayurveda enthusiasts, organisations, Companies and retailers as well.

The event will be inaugurated with Dhanwantari pujan in the morning, followed by a free health camp and awareness in the population.

Bharat Sevasram Saint Mrinmayanandaji might be the chief guest of tomorrow’s event. However, the capacity of the camp will be nearly 50 beneficiaries due to restrictions of the COVID protocols, Dr. Dev informed.

Ayurveda Day, which is celebrated on Dhanwantri Jayanti, was introduced by the Union Ministry of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Sidda, and Homoeopathy) in 2016.

Dhanvantari Jayanti was chosen for the celebration of Ayurveda Day to nationalize this system of medicine and to make it global. AMO will be organizing free health and awareness campaigns and other social welfare activities in each district of Assam.

Ayurveda, a natural system of medicine, originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. Dhanwantari Jayanti is the birthday of Lord Dhanwantari; Lord Dhanvantari is an avatar of Lord Vishnu, having references in the Vedas and Puranas as the physician of the gods and the god of Ayurvedic medicine. Lord Dhanvantari is considered a divine propagator of Ayurveda.

On talking about the significance and history of Dhanwantari Day, Dr. Deepmala Dev, who is an Ayurvedic Surgeon told, “This Dhanwantari Jayanti has been celebrated with great pomp and show in the pioneer Ayurveda institute in Guwahati named Govt Ayurvedic College & Hospital, Jalukbari, almost since its inception in 1948.”

But, Dr. Dev added that this year a great initiative has been taken by a newly formed organisation of Ayurvedic Doctors named Ayurvedic Medical Organization (AMO) Trust. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Minister of AYUSH, Sarbananda Sonowal Sir has officially inaugurated and launched AMO (Ayurvedic Medical Organization) in the first week of October, 2021.
