Barak Premier League fixture announced; Pritam Das, Manishankar Murasingh, Udiyan Bose, Mayank Rawat, star-studded teams to contest

The wait is over. Pankaj Deb memorial Barak Premier League is just a couple of days away. 12 teams are burning their midnight oil to ensure that they are fielding their best eleven. The teams will contest for a high profile final on March 17 which will be played under floodlights at SM Dev Stadium.

Cachar Express, one of the finest cricketers Barak Valley has ever produced, Pritam Das will make a comeback to the Barak Premier League Tournament. He will play for the Silchar Warriors Team. Most of the teams are keeping their eleven a secret, however, the centurion at Ranji Trophy for Assam, Swarupam Purkayastha will play for Silchar Warriors. Mayank Rawat and Deepak Khatri, the crowd pullers will also join Das alongside former India U19 player Parvez Aziz. Warriors will kickstart their campaign on March 15 against Dudpatil Dragons.

Another favourite this year is the Badarpur Royals. Manishankar Murasingh – the allrounder from Tripura who recently picked six wickets against Punjab in Ranji Trophy is set to play for the Royals. Udayan Bose, a man who single-handedly won his team the tournament last year will also play for the Royals. They have hired five to six players from Bangladesh who have played the Bangladesh Premier League. The tournament favourites will start the campaign on March 15, against the Dibrugarh I Sports.

One of the Silent killers this year can be the Silchar Lions. Mosarob Hussain, Abhik Lala and other locals will be joined by Railways player Vikas Chaudhary among others. Accustomed to the local playing conditions, they will start their campaign against Gumrah White Walkers on March 12 at 12:00 pm and then play against the winners of the match between Challengers Hailakandi and Udharbond Transformers. The tournament will start on March 11 with a match between Blue Hills Dimahasao and Dholai Moonlights. On March 12, Barak Bulletin Strikers will play against Silchar Avengers.

Both the semi-final matches will be played on March 16 and the tournament will end on March 17. Organised by Silchar Veteran’s Cricketers Club, Barak Premier League is one of the best white-ball cricket tournaments organised in the Northeast. Players from Delhi, Kolkata and other parts of the country play in the tournament.
