APCC: Itkhola AC Storms Into Semi-Finals After Upsetting Bud Cricket Club; Hritwik Dhar Shines in Victory
Silchar’s Itkhola AC continued their stellar run in the 7th Assam Premier Club Championship 2024-25, defeating Bud Cricket Club by four wickets to book a place in the semi-finals. Despite being drawn into the tournament’s toughest group, the team has remained unbeaten, proving their mettle under pressure.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Itkhola AC produced a disciplined bowling performance, restricting Bud Cricket Club to 151 in 33.4 overs. The star of the match was Hritwik Dhar, a left-arm orthodox spinner from Silchar, who claimed 4 for 32 in his eight-over spell. His sharp turn and control dismantled Bud’s middle order, earning him the Man of the Match award.
Dhar, a product of the Madan Lal Cricket Academy, has long been a rising talent, having captained Assam’s U-16 team in the past.
Chasing 152, Itkhola AC faced early setbacks but found stability in Roshan Topno’s patient 53 off 90 balls. Skipper Abhishek Thakuri (32 not out off 59) played a captain’s knock, guiding his side home in 38.5 overs. Samik Das’ quickfire 16 off 11 balls provided the finishing touch as Itkhola AC sealed a well-earned victory.
With this win, Itkhola AC remains on course for a strong title challenge. Hritwik Dhar’s all-round brilliance and match-winning spell further cement his reputation as one of Assam’s most promising young cricketers.
