Badarpur: Student Found Dead After Teachers’ Day at Paragon School, Family Questions Handling

A Class 10 student was found dead inside a hostel room at Paragon Senior Secondary School in Badarpur, Cachar, shortly after a Teachers’ Day programme at the school, leading to questions from his family over the circumstances surrounding his death.

The deceased has been identified as Gulshan Ahmed Laskar, a Class 10 student and resident of Swadhin Bazar area in Sonai, Cachar.

According to information available, Gulshan had participated in the Teachers’ Day programme at the school and had spoken to his family at around noon on Saturday (September 5). After the school event ended, he was reportedly found dead inside his hostel room.

The school authorities reportedly recovered the body from the hostel room. The circumstances in which the body was removed from the room have now become a major concern for the family.

The family has questioned why the school authorities removed the body without the presence of police or a magistrate. They have alleged that given the nature of the incident, the authorities should have immediately informed the administration and police and preserved the scene for investigation.

The family has also lodged a complaint against the school authorities, according to information available.

Speaking about the incident, family members said the circumstances were serious enough to require a proper investigation before the body was removed. They questioned why the school would remove the body itself if the authorities believed that Gulshan had taken his own life.

The family also alleged that similar incidents involving deaths have occurred at the institution in the past and demanded that the authorities investigate whether there is any connection or pattern.

The family has called for a detailed investigation to establish what happened to Gulshan in the period leading up to his death. They said he was a good student and that there had been no indication, from their perspective, that such an incident was imminent.

They have also urged investigators to examine CCTV footage from the school campus. Since a Teachers’ Day programme was being held at the time, the family believes CCTV footage and other available evidence could help establish Gulshan’s movements before he was found dead.

Following the incident, a Badarpur Circle Officer reportedly reached Sriguari Hospital, where preliminary inquiries were initiated.

The exact cause and circumstances of Gulshan’s death have not yet been officially established. The family’s allegations against the school authorities also remain subject to investigation.

A proper inquiry, including examination of the scene, CCTV footage, statements from students and staff, and other available evidence, will be crucial in determining what happened before the Class 10 student was found dead.
