Coronavirus Outbreak: Govt suspends all domestic flights from Tuesday midnight

After suspension of trains throughout the country, central government on Monday decided to suspend all domestic air travel from Tuesday midnight, so as to prevent the spread of fatal Coronavirus within the nation.

The government’s announcement came as the number of corona virus rose to 415 on Monday. “The operations of domestic schedule commercial airlines shall cease operations with effective from the mid night 23.59 IST hours on 24/3/2020. Airlines have to plan operations so as to land at their destination before 23:59 hours on 24/3/2020. The restrictions shall not apply to solely cargo carrying flights.” a release from ministry of civil aviation said.

The aviation authority has also directed all air operators to ensure that there is one-meter space between passengers at check-in counters and to make sure that there is no bunching of people during boarding, exiting or security check.

Earlier the Centre had announced that no international flights will be allowed to land in India from March 22 so as to curb entry foreigners to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
