DC Keerthi Jalli visits waterlogged areas in Silchar; says, “Will take necessary steps, do not panic”

Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli along with ADC Sumit Sattavan visited the inundated areas under Silchar Municipality areas on Tuesday to take stock of the situation. Executive Officer, Silchar Municipal Board, Water Resources Engineers, PWD Roads officials among others joined the DC during her visit.

She interacted with people who informed her that problem was aggravated because of illegal encroachment by individuals constructing houses and shops on drains and filling up of drains with open trash and garbage by local households. “Public demanded that all such illegal encroachments should be immediately removed,” stated a statement released by the administration.

Jalli later visited waterlogged areas at N S Avenue Road, Radhamdhav Road, Bilpar, Purnapaul Road, Church. The deputy commissioner listened to the grievances of the people and also instructed the officials to find out ways and means to address the issues with utmost priority.

While speaking to the residents of the water clogged areas in Silchar, Deputy Commissioner said “We will take all possible steps in resolving the issue as soon as possible. Request public not to panic.” Jalli assured them that immediate restorative action will be taken up to address the problems as long-lasting solutions to improved culvert work may take some time.
