Fire Breaks at Borail View Hotel in Silchar; Emergency Services Rush To Bring Flames Under Control

At 1:53 PM on Thursday (April 3), Silchar’s Fire and Emergency Services were alerted about a fire inside Borail View Regency on Park Road. The fire reportedly started in the hotel’s kitchen. When firefighters arrived, they saw flames and smoke coming from the kitchen and rushed to extinguish the blaze.

A thick layer of smoke had engulfed the kitchen and the adjoining seating area of the restaurant. Firefighters, equipped with gas masks and oxygen support, entered the kitchen to locate the source and douse the fire.

Speaking to Barak Bulletin, Senior Station Officer of Silchar Fire Service, Tarapur, said, “At 1:53 PM, we were informed about a fire inside Borail View Regency and immediately rushed there with a fire tender. We found the fire in the kitchen, and our firefighters sprang into action.” Confirming the situation, he added, “We saw flames, and firefighting efforts were carried out to extinguish them.”

SP Cachar Numal Mahatta also confirmed to Barak Bulletin that the Cachar Police was informed and a police team was dispatched to ensure the safety of the premises. “There were no injuries, and our fire team doused the flames immediately,” he said.

However, Borail View Regency has outright denied the incident. In a legally threatening message to Barak Bulletin’s Instagram account, they stated:

“We noticed your recent post about a fire at Borail View Regency, which is completely false. There was no such incident, and spreading this kind of misinformation can cause unnecessary panic and confusion.”

The message further warned, “We are requesting you to either edit or remove the post immediately. If this is not corrected, we will have no choice but to take legal action under IPC Sections 499 & 500 and the Press Council Act, 1978. We trust you will act responsibly and rectify this at the earliest.”

This claim directly contradicts statements from two senior officials—SP Mahatta and the Fire Safety Officer—who confirmed the fire and subsequent firefighting efforts.
