Jan 19 COVID Update: Assam reports surge, cases drop in Cachar to 396, Hailakandi 74, Karimganj 210
From 474 on January 18, the number of cases in Cachar has dropped to 396. The National Health Mission, Assam informed that 39 samples in Cachar have tested positive on RT-PCR while 357 samples have tested positive on Rapid Antigen Test Kit. In Hailakandi district, the cases have dropped to 74. However, Karimganj with 210 cases became the only district in Barak Valley to register a surge in the number of cases. It jumped from 153.
Labok Bazar, Cachar resident Parimal Das was rushed to SMCH on January 19 at 9:29 am and he breathed his last on the same day at 12:05 pm. Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that he was admitted with suspected poisoning and during admission, he had tested positive for COVID on Rapid Antigen Test Kit.
Dr. Gupta informed that 39 patients are currently under treatment in the COVID ward of the hospital and out of them, two patients are in ventilator, 14 patients are in oxygen support. 12 individuals took admission on January 19 while 11 got discharged.
According to the data shared by Cachar district administration, 533 individuals in Cachar have tested positive for COVID19, 100 samples have tested positive on RTPCR and 433 on RAT. Currently, there are 1,893 active cases in Cachar and out of them, 1,730 patients are in home isolation. 163 individuals are admitted to various hospitals spread across the district.
