Minority Department of Cachar Congress Threatens Mass Resignations if former Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar joins party

Cachar District Congress finds itself in a challenging situation as members of the district Congress’ Minority Department express their discontent over the potential return of former Deputy Speaker of Cachar and Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar to the party. Tensions rose during a press conference organized by the Minority Department on Thursday.

Ansar Hussain Barlaskar, Chairman, Minority Department, Cachar District Congress Committee, claimed that Aminul Haque Laskar, who had received valuable support from the BJP, now seeks to rejoin the Congress, supposedly because of delimitation. The Congress leader revealed that Haque had stated the Cachar District Congress doesn’t have good leadership. In response, Barlaskar emphasised that the party’s strength is better than Haque’s belief.

The Minority Department representative stressed their loyalty, highlighting their dedication to Congress even during its lowest phases. Concerns were raised about the potential adverse impact if someone from another party, like Haque, secures a ticket for elections. In response, they asserted that such a scenario would compel them to resign.

Barlaskar went further, indicating a willingness to defy the party high command if necessary. It was clarified that the mass resignation threat extended beyond the Minority Department, potentially involving members from various departments, should Aminul Hoque be readmitted.

The situation poses a significant challenge for Cachar District Congress, with the party now facing a crucial decision. They must weigh the demands of their existing members against the risk of losing activists if they opt to welcome Aminul Haque Laskar  back into the fold. The future actions of the party remain uncertain.
