Oct 12 COVID Update: 61 positive in Cachar, Hailakandi 14, Karimganj 11; 2 dead in SMCH
Cachar district administration informed that more than 5000 samples were tested on Monday. After testing 5021 samples with Rapid Antigen Test kit, 60 of them tested positive. One more sample tested positive on RT-PCR taking the district’s total to 61.
In Karimganj district, 3812 samples were tested and 11 individuals were found carrying the infection. On the other hand, three patients in the district were discharged.
14 fresh COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Hailakandi district on Monday, taking the district’s total tally to 3,215.
Health authorities in Hailakandi disclosed that all the 14 positive cases have been detected under the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). Altogether 2,426 swab samples were taken on Monday out of which 292 are under RT-PCR and 2,134 under RAT.
Two patients died in the COVID block of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed vice-principal Dr. Bhaskar Gupta. “One of them is from Cachar while another one is a resident of Tripura and had traveled to SMCH for treatment,” he added.
In the last 24 hours, seven patients took admission to SMCH’s COVID wards and 14 got discharged. Currently, there are 101 COVID positive patients in the hospital and 17 of them are in ICU. Dr. Gupta briefed that three patients have been placed under ventilation and 16 are deemed to be in critical condition.
