Rs. 28 Crore Drug Bust in Cachar! Joint Operation Nabs 3 With 1.1 Lakh Yaba Tablets and Heroin

Cachar Police and the 38 Assam Rifles have seized a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances worth around Rs. 28 crore during a joint operation in Cachar district. Three people were arrested in connection with the case.

The operation was carried out at Motinagar, near the foothills of Bhuban Hills under Lakhipur Police Station, based on specific intelligence inputs. According to police, the team recovered 1,10,000 Yaba tablets weighing around 14 kg and 10 soap cases containing 223 grams of heroin.

Police said the seized substances were tested on the spot and gave positive results for Yaba and heroin.

The arrested persons have been identified as Mayajul Haque, 23, son of Momur Ali from Kalakhal under Kochudaram Police Station, Stelmon, 19, son of Bahamon from Bhuban Hills under Kochudaram Police Station, and Nur Hussain, 32, son of Azijur Rahman from Kalakhal under Kochudaram Police Station.

Addressing the media, Cachar Police said the operation was launched after receiving intelligence about the transportation of narcotic substances. Police described the seizure as a major breakthrough in the district’s fight against drug trafficking.

According to police, the estimated market value of the seized Yaba tablets and heroin is around Rs. 28 crore.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further legal action is being taken. Police said the investigation is continuing to identify others who may be linked to the alleged drug trafficking network.
