Taliban-Style Murder in Karimganj: Parents Beats Mentally Ill Son to Death
In a horrifying case reminiscent of Taliban-style brutality, a 32-year-old man named Suhail Ahmed Choudhury was allegedly killed by his own family using sticks. This tragic incident from yesterday occurred in Purahuria village, Old North Karimganj, and has rocked the entire area and led to widespread local outrage.
The deceased’s body was discovered in a pond by the Karimganj police. Disturbingly, the attack was recorded on mobile phones by locals, capturing the appalling violence inflicted by Suhail’s mother, Dilwara Begum, his aunt, Hasna Begum, and his father, Abdul Sahid. Despite the recording, no one intervened to stop the assault. Reports indicate that while the inhumane beating was ongoing, Suhail was locked in a room that was subsequently set on fire by his mother. After the assault, he was allegedly thrown into a nearby pond, where his body later surfaced.
Suhail Ahmed reportedly suffered from a mental illness, and the extreme cruelty exhibited by his family has been described as surpassing even Taliban-like brutality. His body showed signs of severe injuries, including broken limbs and extensive bleeding. The exact circumstances of how the body ended up in the pond remain under investigation.
Former GP Member and social worker Abul Kalam Chowdhury alerted the Karimganj police, who recovered the body around 10 PM on August 2 and sent it to Karimganj Civil Hospital for an autopsy.
A police officer on the scene declined to provide further details, stating that the case is under investigation. Karimganj SP Partha Protim Das confirmed Barak Bulletin, that an FIR has been registered and that video evidence and reports from locals indicate Suhail had an injury to his leg. Some suspects have reportedly fled, but authorities are confident they will be apprehended soon.
