Traffic Police Issue Advisory to Avoid Congestion During Rath Yatra in Silchar
Ahead of the sacred Rath Yatra festival on Thursday (July 16), the Cachar Traffic Police have issued a special traffic advisory to ensure the smooth movement of devotees and vehicles across Silchar.
Addressing a press conference, Cachar Additional Superintendent of Police Manas Saikia said that traffic congestion is expected to increase during the celebrations, particularly on the stretch from Capital Point to Rangirkhari. He appealed to the public not to park any vehicles along this route as the Rath procession will pass through the area.
He informed that alternative parking arrangements have been made at Circuit House Road and the ASTC parking area. Motorists have been requested to use these designated parking spaces to avoid creating obstacles for the procession.
ASP Saikia also said that a special traffic management plan has been prepared for emergency vehicles and vehicles carrying essential commodities so that they can move without disruption during the festivities.
The Rath Yatra programme is scheduled to begin from 2 pm. A large number of traffic personnel and other uniformed police officers will be deployed across the city to regulate traffic and maintain law and order. Police personnel, including women police officers, will also be deployed around the Rath to ensure the safety of devotees and the peaceful conduct of the festival.
The Traffic Police have appealed to residents to cooperate with the authorities, follow the traffic advisory and avoid unnecessary parking along the procession route to help ensure a safe and smooth Rath Yatra celebration.
