Two More Arrested in June 20 TRK Road Dacoity in Katigorah; Total Arrests Rise to Four

In a significant development, Cachar Police have arrested two more dacoits involved in the brazen dacoity that took place on June 20 at TRK Road in Katigorah. The arrested individuals, identified as Samsul Islam and Abul Hasan, are both residents of Bihara, Sarisakuri village in the Katigorah constituency. They were presented in the District and Sessions Court of Cachar on Monday. Following the court’s order, they have been sent to jail.

On June 20 when Khalil Uddin Laskar was returning home late at night with his daughter, who had just travelled from Bangalore and reached Badarpur station. They were travelling to Balighat and on the way this auto was stopped by a group of 5-6 individuals. They used a fishing net to stop the vehicle and showing sharp weapons, they looted the three people in the auto, including the driver.

Three phones were stolen. This incident happened on TRK Road, Gobindpur which goes towards Katigorah. Two days later, Laskar filed an FIR at the Katigorah Police Station and the police began their investigation.

The recent arrests come as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident. In an earlier operation in July 2022, after a month-long pursuit, ASI Ayub Ali and his team successfully arrested two other members of the same gang. The individuals, Shafiqul Islam from Sarisakuri village and Ali Hasan alias Manabul from Mohanpur First Part village were apprehended in a challenging boat raid.

With these latest arrests, a total of four robbers have now been apprehended and sent to jail.
