With 1313 passengers moving in and out, Silchar Airport records new high Post-COVID

Silchar airport touched a new high on Monday after it recorded the highest single-day passenger movement, post-COVID, officials from the Airports Authority said.

The airport has seen steady growth in passenger footfall since domestic flight operations resumed in the state on May 26.

“On 19.10.2020, Passenger movement at Silchar Airport recorded a new high with total of 1313 passengers arriving & departing in 10 flights, registering an impressive load factor of more than 85%,” the Silchar AAI tweeted.

While in June 2020, the airport registered a footfall of 11842 passengers, in September, this number increased to 21644.

Not only the Silchar Airport, but flight movement from the whole Northeastern Region is scaling up, as passengers are once again ready to embrace the skies.

According to officials, over 14.6K flyers chose to fly from NE Airports on October 17, making it one of the progressive days since the resumption of domestic flights.

The Silchar airport authorities are expecting more passenger movements in the next few days as the festive season has begun. It is that time of the year when many from their ‘niche’ travel back to home.

At present 3 airlines are operating from the Silchar airport viz- Air India, Indigo and Spicejet.
