109 positive in Cachar, 17 in Hailakandi, 1 dead in last 24 hours; 54 patients on oxygen support at SMCH
While 16 new patients took admission at the COVID wards in Silchar Medical College and Hospital in the last 24 hours, 22 were discharged. More discharged patients than admitted is an encouraging sign as the number of active cases in the COVID wards of SMCH, which cater to symptomatic patients has come down to 181.
However, challenges prevail. “54 patients in the COVID ward are on oxygen support,” informed Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital. He added, “Two patients have been placed under ventilator while 22 are considered to be in critical condition.”
Gupta informed that in the last 24 hours, one patient succumbed to the COVID ward of SMCH. With this, the number of patients who died after testing positive for COVID19 at SMCH rises to 109. Out of them, 42 have been adjudged as COVID death. 70 donors have donated plasma so far in SMCH while 1388 got discharged after treatment.
Meanwhile, Cachar Health Department informed that 109 individuals in the district have tested positive. 1397 samples were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test kit in Cachar and out of them 101 were positive.
