In a tragic turn of affairs, a 19-year-old boy has killed himself in the cowshed at his own residence. The incident took place yesterday, at Satkorakandi Part II in Sonai area.
According to available information, Auto driver Nazom Uddin Barbhuiya’s son Bikki Barbhuiya killed himself by hanging with the roof of a cowshed. “In the morning, when I woke up, I saw my brother is not on his side of the bed. I started looking for him but could not find him. I called him many times but did not get a response. That is when I informed other family members and we saw him hanging at our cowshed,” says Bikki Barbhuiya’s brother.
According to the family members, 19-year-old, Bikki Barbhuiya was depressed since Sunday. “He went to play volleyball by the river and got into a fight with Dimpu. Somebody filmed the fight and uploaded it on social media platforms. After the video went viral, he stopped stepping out of the house or speaking with the family and then eventually, he decided to kill himself. Though it looks like a suicide, we are not sure as it could be a murder too,” adds Bikki’s elder brother.
In-charge of Sonai Police station, Akbar Ali and his team went to the spot and recovered the body before sending it to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem. Barak Bulletin also got access of the video and it did not look sexually explicit or demeaning. It was a short video of 29 seconds where two young boys are seeing rolling on the ground pulling each other’s clothes.
“Yes, that is the video and we too could not find anything so demeaning in the video. It was a suicide for sure but why the young boy decided to kill himself is a question. The family members are saying that it’s due to the video but Police is investigating the cause of death,” Akbar Ali said while speaking with Barak Bulletin.
The untimely demise of the young playful boy has shocked the people of the area. The locals have demanded a thorough investigation of the matter.
