27-year-old youth, Amit Dev, dies after being hit by a train

A 27-year-old youth died after being hit by a train in the area surrounding FCI in Ramnagar on Friday. The name of the deceased youth has been identified as Amit Dev. While talking to media persons, a relative said that Amit Dev, a resident of Silchar Saratpally, went out on Friday morning and did not return. Hours later, after receiving the identity card of the deceased youth, the railway staff called the family and informed that he was killed by a train. As soon as the family members got the news, they rushed to the spot and found that the body was that of Amit Dev.

Later, the police recovered his body and handed it over to the family after post-mortem. Meanwhile, the family members are mourning the tragic death of Amit Dev.

Speaking to reporters about Amit Dev, a relative said, “He was a resident of Sonai Road Saratpally. He went out in the morning at 7:30 am after drinking tea. At around 9:30 am we got the news via phone call that a dead body was found in Ramnagar surrounding FCI alongwith an ID card. Accordingly we went to the spot and identified him. He was hit by a running train. A platform ticket was also found in his possession which suggested that he might have went out for strolling. He is survived by an elder brother, mother, sister-in-law and nephew. He was around 27 years old.”
