The number of patients in Silchar Medical College and Hospital has dropped to 44 after six discharges last evening. The vice-principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital Dr. Bhaskar Gupta informed that “28 patients tested COVID positive in last 24 hours.

He added, “Out of them, one is from Cachar while 27 are from Hailakandi. However, the patient from Cachar is yet to be admitted to the hospital and therefore we did not have any new patient in SMCH in the last 24 hours.”

Gupta informed that out of the 44 patients currently admitted to the hospital five are children, five females, and 34 males. “So far we have had 206 patients admitted to the hospital, 160 have been discharged after treatment, and two unfortunately succumbed,” added Gupta. Out of the 206 patients, 106 are from Cachar.

Sharing details about the number of tests done in SMCH, Gupta informed that in the last 24 hours, 365 samples were collected and the team has conducted 761 tests taking the number of tests done in SMCH to 27,403 out of which 604 were found positive.
