50-year-old journalist Sidhartha Deb Purkayastha is no more

Senior journalist, Malugram resident Sidhartha Deb Purkayastha breathed his last today. The 50-year-old reporter was a renowned name in Barak Valley and has worked as a journalist for decades.

At the early hours of the day, Deb Purkayastha started suffering from congestion at his residence. His family members saw him coughing in immense discomfort and immediately rushed him to Mediland Hospital.

The doctors, who examined him at the private nursing home, declared him brought dead. Last evening, Sidhartha Deb Purkayastha did his job at the daily broadsheet he was associated with. He even participated in the recently concluded election to the new committee of Silchar Press Club.

Sidhartha Deb Purkayastha leaves behind his mother, wife, a son and daughter, brother and a huge number of friends and acquaintances. His untimely death has also shocked the fraternity.
