9 injured, 6 critical; Cruiser loaded with passengers collides head-on with speeding tipper in Dholai

The general public of the Dholai area woke up to a devastating accident. Today morning, a speeding passenger Cruiser collided head-on with a loaded tipper truck being driven equally fast. Due to the impact of this collision, the Cruiser loaded with passengers incurred severe damages to its front end.

The Cruiser was overloaded and the absence of airbags and other precautionary measures, made it fatal for the passengers. The locals rushed to the spot and started rescuing the wounded passengers one after another. As many as nine passengers were rushed to the Dholai Primary Health Centre for treatment.

The treating doctors in the Dholai PHC referred six patients to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital as their condition was deemed to be critical. Three patients were discharged from the hospital after fast aid.

AS11 DC 8281 tipper truck was headed towards Bagha from Dholai and the Cruiser was driving in the opposite direction. The head-on collision took place near the bridge over Dholai Khal.

This accident again exposes the loopholes in the Public Transport system. While the traffic laws are their to prevent such mishaps, what is worth noting is that there is hardly any enforcement of the laws.
