Ganja worth Rs 23 lakh seized from Cachar

In a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Border Security Forces seized 424.5 kilograms of Ganja (Marijuana) worth more than Rs 23 lakh near Hilara railway gate, under PS Katigorah, distt Cachar on NH-44, on Monday evening.

Acting on a tip, the security forces intercepted a truck (bearing registration No.(HR55-P-3867) suspected of carrying consignment of Ganja. The driver of the truck was identified as Bheem Singh, a resident of Burari, Delhi. Sources informed that, the consignment of contraband was loaded at Agartala (Tripura) and was on its way to Bakhtiyarpur in Bihar.

Further, 424.5 kgs of Cannabis which was hidden in the specially created cavity behind the driver’s cabin was recovered. Sources added to inform that approximate market value of seized Cannabis and truck comes out to be ₹ 37,34,650. Also, ₹ 20,800 cash and four mobile phones with five SIM cards were recovered from the possession of both the apprehended persons.
