Operation Sindoor: Silchar's Capital Point Sparks with Patriotism
The town of Silchar today witnessed an early Diwali as members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) celebrated India’s Operation Sindoor by bursting crackers and lighting up the road.
On Wednesday (May 7), the heart of Silchar, Capital Point, was transformed into a scene of festivity as BJP and BJYM members gathered to mark the success of Operation Sindoor. The area was filled with the sounds of crackers, and the atmosphere was charged with patriotic fervour.
The celebration went beyond just bursting crackers. Members marched with banners and tricoloured flags, raising patriotic slogans and praising the government along with the army for the successful execution of the operation.
Addressing the media, one of the members celebrating the operation stated, “Operation Sindoor took the revenge for our sisters who lost their Sindoor (their husbands) in the cowardly attack on civilians by terrorists on April 22 in Pahalgam. This is a moment of celebration for every Indian from every background.”
Operation Sindoor was a series of targeted military strikes conducted by the Indian military in the early hours of Wednesday (May 7). The strikes were aimed at nine locations; four in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, targeting terrorist infrastructure associated with groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
The operation was launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, where several civilians lost their lives. The Indian government stated that the operation was carried out as a measure to retaliate against the attack and to prevent further terrorist activities based on credible intelligence.
Following the attack, Indians have been in a celebratory mood, with even the survivors and the wives of those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terror attack joining the celebrations, seeing it as a moment of justice and closure.
