Classic JAWA motorcycles begins its journey in Barak Valley through KJ Associates in Silchar
Motorcycles have always enjoyed a huge fandom among the youth. Powerful ‘masculine’ looking motorcycle brands like the Royal Enfield, Rajdoot (now defunct) has/had a cult following not just in India, but beyond it as well. Another such iconic international motorcycle brand that has its origin in the tumultuous era of pre-WWII Central Europe; JAWA Moto is a Czech motorcycle and moped manufacturer which has witnessed a rich global fanbase for the past 8 decades. Now, in good news for the entire bikers’ fraternity of the Barak Valley, JAWA motorcycles have officially arrived in Silchar. KJ Associates, the official dealer of JAWA motorcycles in Silchar, has opened its outlet in Sonai road, near Radiant College.
Inaugurated in February, the KJ Associates dealer of JAWA motorcycles have already started pre-booking customers due to pretty encouraging demand in this region. Currently having stock of all the active four models of JAWA motorcycles, namely – JAWA Standard, JAWA 42, JAWA Perak, and JAWA Forty Two. According to KJ Associates owner Rohan Deb, 20 various JAWA models have already been pre-booked, with some of them also getting delivered. “Due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, currently our store is operating as per covid protocols and bookings are still open for any JAWA model. 20 pre-bookings have already been done with the first delivery of motorcycle happening on the auspicious day of Eid,” said Rohan Deb. He also mentioned that the starting price of the JAWA motorcycles is around Rs. 1.85 lakhs, which is applicable for single-channel ABS.
JAWA Moto was initially founded in Prague, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) back in 1929. In the 1950s and subsequent 60s, JAWA became one of the top motorcycle manufacturers in the world, exporting to over 120 countries including India. After a significant loss of production in the 90s, its Indian manufacturer stopped production in 1996. But due to its cult following, JAWA motorcycles got a resurrection in India after Classic Legends Private Limited (CLPL), a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra, signed a licensing deal to launch motorbikes under the JAWA brand name in India and some other East Asian countries in October 2016.
They also launched an initiative #ForeverHeroes to lend a helping hand to the children of martyrs, by auctioning the first 13 motorcycles from its production batch. This fundraiser was a first-of-its-kind event, which helped JAWA Moto raise Rs 1,49,25,000 from just 13 bikes. The entire amount received in the fundraising auction would be used towards education for the children of martyrs of the Indian Armed Forces.
Sensing the craze around powerful high config motorcycles in this region, Rohan Deb said that now bikers from Barak Valley don’t need to go to Guwahati or Imphal to buy JAWA motorcycles anymore. “Before this showroom was opened, people of this valley had to go to Guwahati to get their ‘dream’ JAWA bike. But now, not only Barak Valley, even customers from Manipur and Mizoram too have been pre-booking JAWA bikes from our store.” He also mentioned that even though its direct competitor Royal Enfield still enjoys huge popularity, what makes JAWA models different from its rival brands is their lightweight design and comfort.
Deb also mentioned that the pre-bookings are getting sold out pretty fast and they’re soon approaching the end of their current stock. “Our current stock of JAWA bikes is almost over, so interested customers should book their models soon or the remaining ones will get pre-booked too. Once all of the models get pre-booked, we’ll order for the new stock of JAWA motorcycles for our store,” he said. He stated that the showroom opens at 7:00 am for the bikers’ fraternity to visit physically and feel the vibe of this classic iconic motorcycle brand.
