Hit and run case in Karimganj, one dead on the spot, truck stopped in Badarpur

In a tragic turn of affairs, a 20-year-old has lost his life. A deadly accident took place today evening at Arengabad in Chorgola Karimganj. Ratul Purkayastha, a young resident of the Chorgola area was returning to his home when a truck plying in the opposite direction collided head-on.

According to the locals, Ratul Purkayastha was riding his Yamaha FZ and fell a few metres away due to the impact. His skull brokeq open on the spot and parts of his body got deformed. He was declared dead on the spot. According to the information available with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India the vehicle was purchased in February 2020.

The Police inspector on the ground said the body was recovered from the spot and has been sent to Karimganj Civil Hospital for postmortem. “It was a hit and run case. We got to know that the truck ran away after meeting with the accident. The officer in charge of Badarpur Police outpost was informed about the same. We can confirm that the truck has been detained and kept at Badarpur Police Station,” added TSI Janhab Hazarika.

Ratul Purkayastha also known as Titon Purkayastha, is the younger brother of BJP’s Booth president of Chorgola, Rajat Purkayastha and the untimely death of the young boy has shocked the locals.
