The Table Tennis Club of Udharbond celebrated its 29th foundation day amidst the covid pandemic. In a low-key celebration, the members have maintained all the protocols for the pandemic. This day, last year was also celebrated in a very simplified manner because of the pandemic and the same continues this year too. But the Club announced that the training sessions have started from Wednesday itself. Vice-Chairman of the club, Bishnupada Paul hoisted the flag to mark the occasion.
The virus which is tiny in appearance is surely making a huge impact on lives of people. It is getting difficult to adjust to the new normal. Similarly, the players too are facing their shares of tough times. The club decided to restart their training sessions keeping the mental and physical health of the players in mind. Being locked at home has put a strenuous influence on the players. Therefore, the training sessions will help them ease up a little is what the experts in the club believe.
However, in this case, too, the club seems to be very cautious. Each and every player has to be masked while entering the club. They have also put up thermal screening procedures. If any player is found to have higher body temperature, the player will not be allowed to enter the club. Also, each session will comprise of three members only. The coach and two players will be a part of each session. According to the management, these steps are taken in order to ensure the safety of all the players and the coach.
Curfew from 12 pm has been extended in the state till June 5. Considering that, the sessions are arranged only in the mornings. The club was shut down for more than a month. After a gap of 37 days, the club is back with its practice sessions. The new SOP given by the Centre as well as the State Governments do not impose any regulations on the sports organizations. Many cities and towns have also started their sessions obeying the necessary precautionary measures for the pandemic.
On Wednesday, almost 45 players have participated in the session. The entire indoor has been successfully sanitized. Two coaches of the Academy, Partho Pratim Deb, and Sanjib Sharma (Indoor) are given the responsibility to look after the smooth functioning of the session.
