MLA Siddique Ahmed shifted to Covid ward after he tested positive on RT-PCR; “Doing better,” he tweets
South Karimganj MLA and a former Minister in Assam, Siddique Ahmed was rushed to Silchar on Wednesday after his health condition deteriorated. He was checked at a private chamber by Dr. Abu Nasar Md Masroor. His samples were tested for Covid on the RAT kit and the doctors said he had tested negative. However, Dr. Abu Nasar Md Masroor, speaking with Barak Bulletin said that he has advised MLA to get an RT-PCR test done. Yesterday, the reports suggested that he is positive for Covid 19.
Siddique Ahmed was admitted to the Green Heals hospital on Wednesday. After he tested positive, now he has been shifted to the Covid ward.
The MLA had breathing difficulties and was suffering from chest congestion and that is when the family decided to rush him to Silchar. “Thank You everyone for your concern. I’m doing a little better but will be under observation for the next few days. Keep me in your prayers,” the MLA had tweeted.
Siddique Ahmed has cardiac complications and he has been suffering from diabetes and hypertension for more than a decade. “All Cardiac checks have been performed. Cardiologist Dr. Ahmed Hussain checked the patient and the reports are normal. He has mild chest congestion and the Covid treatment has started,” informed the hospital management.
Siddique Ahmed was first elected as a member of the legislative assembly in 2001 and the congressman served as a minister in Tarun Gogoi’s cabinet. In 2021, he defeated AGP’s Aziz Khan to become the MLA for one more term.
