Cachar man beaten mercilessly by family members of his alleged girlfriend, fighting for life in SMCH

A dreadful incident happened in the Moniarkhal Tea Estate in the Dholai area of Cachar. Ashok Rabidas, a youth from the tea estate was tortured in a gruesome way by the family of his alleged girlfriend. Broken glass bottles, sharp blades were used as a weapon in the attack.

As per information 10 men ganged up to attack the young man for having an affair with the girl from their family. The injured was taken to the Silchar Medical College for treatment and is right now struggling for life in the ICU ward of the hospital.

On December 1, when Ashok Rabidas was returning home from work in the evening, he was stopped and attacked by the culprits, which included her alleged girlfriend’s brothers. After leaving him bleedy with deep cuts, the men also rubbed the wounds with chilli powder and salt.

While speaking to the media, Ashok’s brother said, “My brother had a relationship with the daughter of Niranjan Ojha for a long time and a few days back she ran away from her home and came to live with my brother. Later both of them went missing, but when they were found, the girl went to her home and Ashok came to ours. Her family started to threaten him since then. They would constantly threaten to murder him or beat him up like animals. On Wednesday, while he was returning home from Silchar, at least 10-12 men gathered and attacked him on the way. They first beat him with different things, tried to choke him with a belt, pierced his body with blades and needles and when that didn’t satisfy them, they forced him to drink a liquid and rubbed chilli powder and salt all over the wounds”. 

Ashok’s brother Deepak Rabidas who filed an FIR at the Dholai Police Station further said, “Somehow he managed to come home and we immediately rushed him to the medical college. Right now he is admitted in the ICU and his condition is severe”. In the FIR filed, Deepak mentioned the names of 10 people who allegedly attacked his brother mercilessly. Last night two were arrested by the OC of Dholai Police Station as mentioned by Deepak Rabidas. In the FIR Deepak alleged the attackers were Subham Ojha, Sanjay Ojha, Ashok Kahar, Refri Singh and others.
