Huge cache of drugs worth 10 crore rupees seized by Cachar Police from Bagadohor, Two handlers arrested

In a major crackdown against drug smugglers, the Cachar Police conducted a successful raid in Silchar and seized a large amount of narcotics. Acting on a secret tip-off, the police raided the house of a person named Rohimuddin at Bagadohor. During the raid they seized 50 soap boxes suspected to contain heroin and 30,000 Yaba tablets alongwith cash amounting to Rs. 1,70,000.

Two persons named Rohimuddin aged 33 years and Haseena Begum aged 24 years were arrested in connection with the incident. The seized narcotics is estimated to have a market value of around 10 crores.

Speaking to reporters Cachar SP Numal Mahatta said “A lady from Manipur smuggled the drugs to Bagadohor. The arrested persons were trying to transport the drugs outside after a few days. After preliminary investigation it has been found that the consignment of drugs was smuggled from Churchandpur located in Manipur near the Myanmar border.”

He added, “The arrested persons were acting as receivers and we caught them red handed before they could transport it. The operation is still on to nab the other persons involved in the incident and we will take action accordingly.”
