After long hours of interrogation, Police arrests Cachar College Principal Dr. Siddhartha Sankar Nath
Big Breaking news coming in from the district police headquarters. The principal of Cachar College, Dr. Siddhartha Sankar Nath has been arrested. Today afternoon, Cachar Police detained him following an FIR lodged by the deputy commissioner of Cachar, Rohan Jha. He was escorted to Silchar Sadar Police station where he was being interrogated by the Officer In Charge of Silchar Sadar Police Station.
From there he was again escorted to the Silchar Civil Hospital for the mandatory physical check-up. Throughout the day he has been kept at the Police Station. After long hours of interrogation, Cachar Police has confirmed that the Principal of Cachar College has been arrested.
He will spend the night in Police custody and will be produced before the judge tomorrow. The future course of action will depend on the order of the court.
According to top sources in Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Rohan Jha, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar had called the Principal to ask why wasn’t he opening the gate as there was a long queue of applicants outside the College premises which also happens to be of the Examination Centres. Then, there was a delay in the procurement of question papers. Again when the DC asked about the loopholes in the way the examination is being conducted, the Principal behaved in a manner that is at best insubordination and at worst, “jaanta nahi main kaun hoon” attitude.
Top officials in the deputy commissioner’s office said that the Principal was rude to the DC who was just doing his duties. “The protocol to conduct the recruitment examination was laid by the state government. The DCs were just enforcing the law. However, the Principal was whimsical all throughout. He went on to ask DC to talk to his junior as he thought he was above discussing the matter with DC. Not just that, when the DC was asking questions that he is authorised to as the DM, the Principal refused to reply,” said a top officer at the DC’s office.
So far, Dr. Siddhartha Sanakar Nath or his lawyer did not release any statement.
