AHSEC cancels HS 1st year examination, students to get promoted to 2nd year

The second new wave of the Covid-19 virus has swept across the whole nation disrupting the lives of millions of people. Amidst lockdown and curfews across several states of the country, many education boards and Universities have already either cancelled or postponed their scheduled examinations.

Now, in order to curb the spread of this new wave of Coronavirus, the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has announced that the HS 1st year final examination, which was earlier scheduled to be held from May 4, 2021, has now been cancelled. The notification came amidst an atmosphere of spiking Covid cases all over the state, which has created a sense of panic in the minds of the people, and more so, the students as well.

The notification released by the AHSEC also states that all the students who have already filled up online applications for their HS 1st year examination are hereby declared to have been promoted to the HS 2nd year class for the academic session 2021-2022. The notification was duly undersigned by the Controller of Examinations, AHSEC, Pankaj Borthakur.

The current active cases in Assam as of now stands at more than 31, 000, with 1,531 deaths reported so far in the state. Assam is currently going through a partial lockdown phase imposed to curb the spread of this new strain of virus, which has already infected many students while they were appearing for various exams that were held in the past month.
