Alleged corruption in implementation of Arunodoi scheme sparks protests by women in Panibhora and Didarkhush
Due to alleged corruption in the implementation of Arunodoi project, hundreds of protesting women locked the GP office in Panibhora. On Tuesday women of Panibhora GP under Narsinghpur Development Block located in Dholai Constituency protested against the granting of Arunodoi scheme benefits to relatively well-off families by depriving the actual beneficiaries of the scheme. Hundreds of protesting women locked the GP office of Panibhora alleging corruption in the implementation of Arunodoi scheme.
Later, speaking to media, they said that the names of all the people who have good income in their families, have cars and houses are in the list of Arunodoi scheme beneficiaries. But the names of poor, day labourer families are not in the list. And when the GP president, AP member as well as BJP leaders were asked workers about this, they did not give any answer. The women threatened that they will not open the GP office until they receive any suitable answer.
Allegations of massive corruption in Arunodoi scheme also surfaced in Didarkhush. People have alleged that the wealthy were provided benefits of Arunodoi scheme in exchange of money depriving the real beneficiaries. Claims of corruption and nepotism have come to the fore in the selection of beneficiaries under Arunodoi scheme. Massive corruption charges have been raised in the implementation of Arunodoi scheme in Didarkhush under Dholai Assembly Constituency. The people of the GP have complained that the benefits of the scheme have been given to the relatively privileged in exchange of money by depriving the real beneficiaries.
On Tuesday, a protest meeting was held in Didarkhush village of Didarkhush GP, and the deprived people drew the attention of Minister Parimal Suklabaidya and District Magistrate to cancel the list of Arunodoi scheme made in exchange of money and prepare a fresh list. Rasmani Rabidas, Raimun Nesa, Sharif Uddin Rubjan Begum, Rita Rabidas Sufla Begum Barbhuiya, Kolaboti Rabidas, Rukia Begum and others spoke in the protest meeting.
