
Army boat on evacuation duty capsizes in Shyamananda Ashram road; "No loss of life," DC
The deputy commissioner of Cachar informed that a boat has capsized in Shyamananda Ashram road.
Through a post, the Cachar district administration communicated, “It is just informed that an Army boat has just capsized whilst on evacuation efforts at Syamananda Ashram Road. No loss of life reported. Public is requested to please first focus on safety. Relief will also be supplied shortly. We are first prioritising rescue of pregnant, sickly and senior citizens. Relief operations need the use of boats which are taken for evacuation of public to safety.”
The post on social media added, “With overnight mobilisation we have mobilised 10 teams from Army/ CRPF/ NDRF/ SDRF for rescue. 12760 ltrs of water has already been distributed in Bilpar and Kanakpur area. We are getting many many requests. Please understand we are working non stop to meet all your demands especially in very tough conditions in a never before seen disaster.”
Through the post, the district administration has sought cooperation. “Please bear with us. We promise you we are working hard to rescue each one of your father/mother/daughter/son/sister/brother. We are ready to send relief, water, baby food but boats are engaged first in rescue/evacuation. Relief will also reach shortly. Please bear with us.”
