AUTA Conducts Two Day Annual Teachers Meet; Invites I.B. Ubadia as Chief Guest

The Assam University Teachers’ Association (AUTA) recently organized “Vividha,” a two-day Annual Teachers’ Meet held on February 15 and 16. The event showcased a diverse range of activities, including sports and cultural performances, with enthusiastic participation from guests and members alike.

The program kicked off with a series of indoor and outdoor sports events held at the University Sports Complex and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Mukta Mancha. Dr. Biswa Ranjan Roy spearheaded the coordination of the sports activities, ensuring a lively and competitive atmosphere.

In the evening, sponsors of the event were honoured at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium, acknowledging their support and contribution. Faculty members dazzled the audience with captivating cultural performances, showcasing their talents across various art forms.

On the second evening, the cultural event commenced with a mesmerizing Bharatnatyam (Padam) performance by Shri Sujit Ghosh from the Department of Performing Arts. The Chief Patron, Prof. Rajiv Mohan Pant, Vice Chancellor of Assam University, was felicitated by Dr. Amalendu Chakraborty, President of AUTA, followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Shri Ishvarlal Bhudarbhai Ubadia, Manager of Rosekandy Tea Estate, Cachar.

Acknowledgments were also extended to the performers and sponsors, with Dr. Amit Kumar Das, General Secretary of AUTA, conferring the accolades. The event further saw the official release of the Promo Video, website, and Theme Song of Sonbeel Utsav 2024, scheduled for February 24-26, by Vice Chancellor Prof. R. M. Pant. The theme song, written by Prof. Manabendra Dutta Choudhury and sung by Dr. Jagannath Barman, promises to enhance the festivities of the upcoming cultural celebration.

Continuing the cultural showcase, artists and faculty members delivered enthralling performances, including a melodious sitar recital by Shri Rajarshi Bhattacharjee accompanied by Shri Shuvasis Choudhury on the Tabla, and a soulful rendition of Kajri by Shri Jagannath Barman. The pinnacle of the evening was a spellbinding performance of Hindustani classical music (vocal) by Shri Taraknath Sen from the Agra Gharana. Accompanied by Shri Gurudas Karmakar on the tabla, Shri Sandeep Bhattacharjee on the harmonium, and Shri Jagannath Barman on the tanpura, the concert left the audience spellbound.

The event was meticulously organized and presented by Prof. Mahuya Sengupta, Vice President of AUTA, adding to the grandeur and success of “Vividha” Annual Teachers’ Meet.
