Auto driver allegedly beaten with rod by husband of a doctor at Rongpur, Doctor's family refutes allegations
In a shocking incident at Rongpur, a heated confrontation between an auto driver and a doctor’s husband took a violent turn, leaving the auto driver severely injured. The doctor, identified as Paramita Paul, had closed her private chamber at Udharbond and was returning with her husband in their car when the altercation occurred at Rongpur. It has been alleged that the auto driver was not allowing their car to pass.
The situation escalated rapidly, with the doctor’s husband allegedly resorting to violence by taking out a rod from their car and assaulting the auto driver. The driver sustained serious injuries, with blood oozing from his head. In response, enraged locals vandalized the doctor’s car, adding to the chaos. The doctor and her husband managed to escape from the scene to avoid any potential mob violence.
Upon the arrival of the police, the injured auto driver was rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for immediate medical attention.
In a conflicting statement, a family member of the doctor refuted the allegations, claiming that the auto driver was the aggressor, inciting the confrontation by blocking other vehicles on the road. According to their version of events, the auto driver attacked the doctor and her husband, resulting in injuries that required medical treatment, including stitches.
